FIR lodged, police conduct raids to arrest lawyers

A spokesperson of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in a statement on Monday declared that First Information Report of the unfortunate incident in which the IHC was stormed by some lawyers has been lodged with the police.

We have identified some of the lawyers who were pelting stones and hurling threats on the honorable judges and the court staff and their names have been given to police for further action, the spokesperson said.

According to the FIR lawyers Tasadduq Hanif, Shehla Shan Abbasi, Hammad Umar Khayam, Ahsan Majeed Gujjar, Khalid Mehmood, Shaista Tabasum, Yasir Khan, Arbab Ayub Gujar, Nahid Ashfeen, Raja Fakhar, Naseer Kiani, Asadullah, Raja Zahid, Liaquat Manzoor, Naveed Malik, Khalid Taj, Shoaib Chaudhry, Meraj Tareen and Zafar Khokhar were among the lawyers who stormed the IHC building, ransacked the chief justice chamber and violated the court decorum.

Some of the protesting lawyers also misbehaved with journalists and threatened them of dire consequences.

The spokesperson for the IHC further said these lawyers’ respective will be approached for cancellation of their licences. Police, meanwhile conducted raids to arrest the lawyers whose names have been given in the FIR.
