The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) organized B2B meetings of leading businessmen from Bangladesh with leading Pakistani companies dealing in Rice, Spices, and Pink Salt.
On the invitation of Pakistan’s Trade and Investment Section at Dhaka, a leading businessman from Bangladesh visiting Pakistan from 2-10th February 2021. On his visit to TDAP, the buyer showed great interest in importing Basmati Rice, Recipe Mix spices, and Pink salt from Pakistan.
At his request, TDAP arranged his B2B meetings with Chairman REAP and other leading exporters of Rice, Recipe Mix spices, and pink salt from Pakistan. The Bangladeshi buyer was quite impressed with the quality and packaging of Pakistani Products and showed interest in importing these products from Pakistan under his own brand.
In 2019, Pakistan’s exports to Bangladesh was around US$ 793.03million and out of which the major commodity is cotton. It is expected that due to this visit, our exports of agro-food products to Bangladesh which are quite negligible will be increased and new avenues of trade will be opened between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Consequently, Pakistan has managed to save approximately $1 billion in export revenue, which the country gets through the export of Basmati rice to the European Union. Taking to his official Twitter handle, Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood confirmed the development. In his tweet, Dawood said, “He is glad to inform that Pakistan has registered Basmati rice as GI under the GI Act 2020. Under this Act, a GI registry has been formed, which will register the GI and maintain basic record of properties and authorized users.”
“This will provide protection to our products against misuse or imitation, hence, will guarantee that their share in the international market is protected.”
