The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to close another inquiry against former railways minister and PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique. According to sources, the prosecution wing of the anti-graft watchdog has recommended closure of the inquiry after no substantial evidence was found of the PML-N leader influencing the inquiry into the Hafizabad train accident.
Earlier in January, the NAB Lahore recommended the closure of an inquiry against Khawaja Saad Rafique into the purchase of locomotives for want of evidence. The anti-graft watchdog had initiated the investigation against the leader of the opposition party on a complaint that he had procured the locomotives on exorbitant rates when he was railways minister. Saad Rafique and his brother Salman Rafique are also facing another NAB reference pertaining to the Paragon City housing project.—INP
