LWMC saves Rs335m through new contract

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) is striving to ensure best possible cleanliness arrangements across the city during the transition period. To provide best cleanliness facilities to the citizens of the provincial metropolis, the LWMC has signed a contract with local contractors for a period of three to 6 months. In this regard, LWMC started bidding process as per PPRA rules after publishing advertisement in newspapers on December 16, 2020. The LWMC saved Rs335 million of exchequer under the new cleanliness agreement. To ensure cleanliness in 9 towns of the city, the estimated amount was Rs2,653 million whereas the company received bids less amounting to the estimated price. The company opened technical bids on January 2, and financial bids on January 23. Twelve companies have participated in the bidding process out of which 6 companies qualified on the basis of technical specifications. Rs335 million has been saved for cleaning 7 towns of Lahore and a 3 to 6 months contract has been signed for primary and secondary collection. The LWMC spokesman stated that no firm had qualified for Allama Iqbal Town and Gulberg Town on technical grounds. LWMC will ensure self-cleaning arrangements in Allama Iqbal Town and Gulberg Town.

He further said that the department will ensure uniform and standard cleanliness arrangements in the city and new containers will be installed in the city under the new agreement. Citizens are also urged to cooperate with the department in maintaining cleanliness and to put waste in the bins.
