Provincial Minister for Health, Dr Yasmin Rashid met with Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar at his office on Thursday. Dr. Rashid informed the Chief Minister about the anti-dengue campaign and treatment facilities being provided to the patients in the hospitals. Sardar Usman directed her to carry out anti-dengue campaign in an effective manner and said that full attention should be paid to the patients, under-treatment in public sector hospitals.
He said that Punjab government is taking every possible measure for overcoming dengue disease. He said that participation of every segment of society in anti-dengue campaign is utmost necessary. The menace of dengue will soon be controlled with the effective participation of the community. He further maintained that provision of better healthcare facilities to the patients will be ensured in six major hospitals of Lahore including Mayo, Jinnah, Sir Ganga Ram, General, Services and Children Hospitals besides upgradation of their emergency wards. Staff would be deputed in emergency wards in a special uniform for providing guidance to the patients and their attendants.
Standard of outdoor section will also be improved. Guidance boards would be displayed inside as well as outside the hospitals. Parking facility and cleanliness condition would be further improved. He said that patients and their attendants can lodge complaints about any issue. Shelter homes would be set up in major hospitals. Prizes would be given to the doctors and the management of the hospitals on good performance.
Moreover, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that Cholistan, Thal, Koh-e-Suleman and electricity-less backward areas will be illuminated through solar energy and hundreds of villages will be benefited in phases.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting at his office here on Thursday in which steps with regard to the off-grid solution were reviewed.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said that water supply schemes, agri tube-wells and schools will also be gradually converted to solar energy. He said that solar energy project will be initially started in Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Koh-e-Suleman, Fort Munroe and Rajanpur. The off-grid solution is necessary to meet the growing energy needs and far-flung villages will be illuminated through it.
It will also benefit the people and the government will save billions of rupees. Similarly, waste-to-electricity projects are also being reviewed, he added. Provincial ministers Dr Akhtar Malik, Hashim Jawan Bakht, ACS (energy), secretaries of energy, finance, P&D departments and others attended the meeting.
