Dense fog that enveloped the City and its surrounding disrupted flight operation at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore where 12 flights were cancelled and 17 delayed on Sunday.
The dense fog engulfed motorways and the National Highway in various parts and forced closure of different sections of motorways. Motorway section M-2 from Lahore to Kot Momin was closed due to low visibility range. Motorway section M-3 from Faizpur to Abdul Hakeem was closed for traffic due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, a spokesperson of the Motorway Police said.
The visibility range at the sections of National Highway affected by fog has been upto 30 metres, the Motorway Police said.
“The road users should use fog lights while driving, avoid overspeed and should keep proper distance from other vehicles,” the police has advised.
Meanwhile, the fog disrupted the air travel and forced closure of various national and international flights. Cancelled flights: PA-410 to Dubai, flight XY317 from Riyadh canceled, flight XY-318 to Riyadh, flight IF-341 from Najaf to Lahore Airport, Baghdad Air flight IF-342 to Najaf, PIA flight PK-203 to Dubai, and PIA flight PK-204 from Dubai. Following flights were delayed amid the suspension of flight operation including flight QR-620 from Doha delayed by 14 hours, Flight PK-229 to Muscat delayed by 13 hours, Flight QR-621 to Doha delayed for thirteen and a half hours, flight PK-797 to Toronto delayed by two and a half hours, TK-715 to Istanbul delayed by five hours and forty-five minutes and flight PK-303 to Karachi is delayed by three hours and forty-five minutes.
