Hazardous TV and Internet Cables on power infrastructure to be removed: DC Central

Deputy Commissioner Central, Farhan Ghani, while presiding over coordination meeting between District Central and K-Electric, appreciated the joint efforts of all civic agencies during Muharram processions and rain spells; and acknowledged the prompt response by KE teams as “exemplary”.
He highlighted that the power utility’s field staff remained available round-the-clock for immediate fault rectification while requesting a similar level of receptiveness and ownership from other departments.
During the meeting, Ghani assured full support for removal of encroachments from various KE installations across the Central District while directing Assistant Commissioners of all zones to ensure all efforts for removal of Internet and TV cables from electricity poles.
Spokesperson K-Electric emphasized that close coordination of all civic agencies is necessary to ensure a safe and resilient city and that safety is a collective responsibility shared by all stakeholders as well as the residents of the city.
She highlighted that cable TV and internet operators illegally encroach KE’s infrastructure and create public safety hazards.
The power utility will also shift High-Tension electricity infrastructure from crossing over drains. Investments in power distribution projects which are underway were also discussed during meeting.
Kamal Hakeem, Additional Deputy Commissioner Central; Imran Rajput, Assistant Commissioner North Karachi; Hassan Tariq, Assistant Commissioner, (Nazimabad and Gulberg) and Senior officers of K-Electric including Adnan Sami, Cluster Head North; Sibtain Haider, General Manager Technical, Gulshan; Aijaz Channa, Deputy General Manager Technical, North; Zahid Ali, Manager Regional Head Office; Atif Yaqoob Manager, Regional Head Office were also present on the occasion.
