Three air quality stations to be set up in Sialkot

In collaboration with the Punjab Government and Asian Development Bank Air quality stations are being set up at DC Office, Canal View Colony and Small Industrial Estate under the Clean Air Action Plan to monitor air pollution in Sialkot and clean the air from harmful. The decision was taken at a joint meeting of local officials of Ricardo Energy Environment, Clean Air Asia and relevant departments chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Planning Farooq Sadiq.
ADC Finance Farooq Sadiq said that overcoming the rising air pollution was no less of a challenge. Rapid population growth, brutal deforestation, Industrial and transport fumes have exacerbated environmental pollution, with direct adverse effects on human health, wildlife and agricultural production. He said that due to air pollution in the world, 7 million people are dying of diseases every year, of which 4 million people belong to the continent of Asia.
He said that a study was being carried out in Sialkot in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank to reduce air pollution and at the same time technical support would be provided to the district administration.
