Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has accepted captain of the national cricket team and star batsman Babar Azam ‘s request to excuse him this time from appearing before its Cyber Crime Circle to answer the allegations levelled against him by a woman due to his busy schedule on Thursday.

Babar Azam is now to appear before the Cyber Crime Circle team next week.
The star batsman, who is already struggling against injury, has now got another challenge ahead of him, and that is to respond to the allegations of rape and torture levelled against him by a woman named Hamiza Mukhtar.

Last month, police in Punjab capital Lahore had declared Hamiza Mukhtar’s accusations against Babar as false after the complainant remained unable to provide any concrete evidence to support her claims.

The investigating officer (IO) had submitted a report in the sessions court, saying that an application to register a case on the woman’s accusations had been filed in 2017.
However, it seems as if the woman’s allegations are not true, stated the report.
In its report, the police also requested the court to wrap up the complaint under the provisions of the Constitution.

Barrister Harris Azmat, the counsel of Babar Azam, had argued before the court that his client was a national hero, and moreover, the complainant had been blackmailing him since 2016.

He claimed that the police probe had found Azam innocent after which the petitioner had extended an apology to his client. The counsel implored the court to dismiss the petition
Hamiza Mukhtar, 24, claims to be a former girlfriend of the national cricket captain.

She alleges that Azam sexually assaulted her on the false promises of marriage; and that she got pregnant out of wedlock but had to go for abortion on the cricketer’s insistence.
Hamiza had further said she had moved a total of five petitions in the court and would continue her struggle till she got justice.
