LWMC kicks off sanitation week Cleanliness contest begins among 9 towns of City

The Lahore Waste Management Company on Monday kicked off sanitation week to clean every nook and corny of the provincial metropolis.
The purpose of the sanitation week is to take extraordinary cleanliness measures in the city. In this regard LWMC carried out especial cleanliness awareness activity at Allah Ho Chowk and Johar Town. The awareness activity aimed at reaching out to maximum number of people and creating awareness on importance of proper disposal of waste.
The activity was led by Parliamentarian Secretary Nazir Ahmad Chohan. On the occasion, the LWMC CEO, the GM Operations, Head of communication, other officials, social mobilizers and workers were present. Special awareness camp was set up at the location where public was briefed about the importance of cleanliness and their integral role in maintaining cleanliness. Social mobilization team went shop to shop and door to door to sensitize public. A special awareness walk was also the part of the activity in which all participants stepped in; followed by distribution of awareness material, and washing activity at the said location among public by Nazir Chohan and other representatives. Mr. Nazir Chohan appreciated the efforts and initiatives of LWMC to clean the city. He also stated that LWMC has ensured best possible, effective and cost effective cleanliness arrangements in the city whereas the LWMC CEO stated that in maintaining cleanliness public participation is the very essential whereas the department realizes, the need of cleanliness as well as community mobilization measures in order to ensure efficient waste collection from the city and help people avoid unpleasant and filthy situation in every nook and corner of the city.
Furthermore, spokesperson LWMC said that besides, cleanliness operations, LWMC believes in imparting awareness amongst masses at large and taking them along by all possible means to achieve desired results of forming a cleaner and healthier society, he added that citizens can register their waste related complaints on LWMC helpline 1139 or by using mobile based application Clean Lahore.
