Founder of the Hamdard Foundation, a scholar, philanthropist, practitioner of the Eastern Medicine and ex-Governor of Sindh, Hakim Mohammad Saeed was remembered as a true Pakistani and one of the towering figures who served the nation and the country till the last day of his life.
Participants of a ceremony at the 101st birth anniversary of Shaheed Hakim Mohammad Saeed (Jan 9, 1920-Oct 17, 1998) and Youm-e-Naunehalaan-e-Pakistan paid him rich tributes and termed his services for the people particularly the children and the youth of Pakistan of great value.
Hakim Saeed, they said, was the one who realized for the first time the importance of mental, social, physical and psychological health of the children and initiated a number of forums highlighting their natural talent and positive role in society.
Chairman of the Tehreek-e-Naujawanan Pakistan Abdullah Hamid GUl who was the chief guest on the occasion in his address remembered the late Hakim Sahib as a torch bearer and role model for all the Pakistanis.
Almost 67 years ago, in 1953, Hakim Saeed launched the first monthly magazine for the children Hamdard Naunehal. Abdullah Gul said Hakim Saeed founded the Hamdard Foundation in 1948 and also wrote more than 200 books on medicine, philosophy and science which still provide us guidance and show us the way forward to deal with the challenges of modern times.
The ceremony was also addressed by Director Information Hayat Bhatti, Naeem Qureshi and talented students who have won positions in the annual Matriculation and the Intermediate exams.
Abdullah Gul said Hakim Saeed had a vision to turn the Pakistani youth into productive, proactive members of society, a young dynamic force that is always ready to work and serve their country.
Hakim Saeed always remained a beacon of light and his legacy is being carried out by his able daughter Sadia Rashid and she is continuing his noble mission by promoting and supporting the youth in their academic endeavours, said Abdullah Gul .
Hakim Saeed’s efforts to make Pakistan a great country in the world were not acceptable to the enemies of Pakistan and they assassinated him in 1998 when he was on his way to oversee the project of the Madina-tul-Hikmat in Karachi.
While speaking on the occasion, Hayat Bhatti said Hakim Saeed wanted to see the Pakistani youth achieve their place in the world according to Allama Iqbal’s philosophy and vision. He assured all support and cooperation in promoting the thought and vision of Hakim Saeed. On the occasion, position-holder students were also given Hakim Mohammad Saeed Scholarships Awards.
