Good news for Serene Air, a country’s private sector airline, as General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia has permitted it to operate flights between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. In the beginning, the airline will operate flights from destinations in Pakistan to Jeddah and Riyadh. Later, the operations will be extended to Madinah, Damam and other cities. GACA has given Foreign Air Career Economic Licence to the Pakistani airline for a period of two years. Serene Air will start its operations on January 21. According to the airline’s management, flights to Saudi Arabian cities will take off from Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad and Peshawar airports.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has already given a green signal to Serene Air to start its international flights operation.
Meanwhile, In a directive to the all-schedule landing airlines, the CAA director of air transport said that it had been reported by the airport managements of different locations that airlines are still reluctant to adhere to the approved slots finalised and approved by the Air Transport Directorate of CAA. It is not only causing congestion but also hampering the effective implementation of Covid-19 SOPs. The CAA directed the airlines to ensure strict adherence to approved slots and in case of change of plus/minus 15 minutes in slot timings.
