Shortage of water and closing of government hydrantcaused the residents of Baldia Town to protest in front of Supreme Court registry on Wednesday.
A large number of men and women from the residential are took part in the protest and recorded their concern. Protestors had placards and banners that contained slogans against the shortage of water and closing of the only hydrant in the area.
While talking to the media, protesters complained that the shortage of water in Baldia Town has been an issue for years as 60% of the areas don’t have a water supply and the only way to get little drinking water was through the government hydrant which was closed. They complained that the only way to get drinking water is travelling 50km to remote and mountainous areas near the crush hydrant and get a tanker at extremely expensive prices that they cannot afford.
The protesters requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Gulzar Ahmed, to take notice of the shortage of water and closing of only hydrant in the area and solve the issue himself. On this occasion the protesters have registered their complaints both verbally and written at the Supreme Court Karachi Registry.
