AS India is persisting with its aggressive posture, Pakistan is taking up the issue diplomatically at various forums besides measures to safeguard its security and defence interests in the face of any misadventure. Prime Minister Imran Khan Sunday once again reminded the international community of India’s continuous and reckless behaviour, warning that a false flag operation against Pakistan would get a befitting response at all levels.
The statement of the Prime Minister is reflective of the aspirations and resolve of the nation to go to any extent to defend the motherland. The apprehensions about a possible aggression are not mere conjectures as mischievous activities on the part of India have increased recently but people of Pakistan, who have a bitter experience of Indian aggression in 1971, are vigilant and united to teach a lesson to the enemy. No doubt, there is apparently political polarization in the country, which might be a source of encouragement for India to launch a false flag operation against Pakistan as it did on February 26, 2019 but New Delhi must remember that people of Pakistan are one when it comes to defending the country. India is active on multiple fronts including Line of Control (LoC), Working Boundary, Gilgit-Baltistan, formerly FATA, Balochistan, and CPEC to harm Pakistan in every respect but, above all, there are credible reports that it was preparing to launch an attack against Pakistan on the basis of false propaganda about Pakistan sponsoring terrorism. As against this, India itself is guilty of state-sponsored terrorism not only against Kashmiris, who are waging a just struggle for realization of their right of self-determination but also against Pakistan and first the time in many years, Pakistan has provided documentary evidence of India’s involvement in acts of terror to the international community. New Delhi is under intense pressure due to diplomatic offensive by Pakistan and some internal developments like a strong protest by farmers, mishandling of Covid-19 and economic recession. The Prime Minister has rightly pointed out that India could resort to false flag operation against Pakistan in a bid to diverting attention of its own people from internal weaknesses and the international community that has become apprehensive of New Delhi’s credentials and designs.
India’s desperation can be gauged by its highly provocative act of firing on the vehicle of the UN Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP). Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Munir Akram, in a letter addressed to the UN Secretary General (UNSG) and the President of the UN Security Council requested them to forcefully condemn the attack, launch a transparent inquiry into the incident and ask India to respect 2003 ceasefire understanding. With increasing civilian and military casualties due to continued violation of ceasefire on the LoC by Indian forces, a senior Indian diplomat was summoned by Foreign Office to lodge a protest against these violations and loss of civilian lives and damage to their properties. This year, India has committed 3003 acts of ceasefire violation to date, resulting in martyrdom of 27 innocent civilians and serious injuries to 250 others and these figures have much to do with India attack on UN military observers who have a mandate to record and verify violations and report the matter to the UN Secretary-General. There are reasons to believe that targeting UN vehicles was a new coercive and reckless Indian ploy to hinder the Observers’ work.
While the defence forces of Pakistan are fully alive to the danger, the Prime Minister has conveyed a firm message across the eastern border that any mistake would spark a befitting response and people of Pakistan too are ready to offer every sacrifice for defence of the motherland, there is need to take world capitals and friends into confidence on Indian plans and conspiracies. The Prime Minister may visit some influential friendly countries to apprise them of the Indian designs that pose grave threats to regional security and peace. Instructions should also be issued to Pakistani missions abroad to sensitize the host governments and local media about fast-changing developments including what India is doing to crush the freedom struggle of Kashmiris and turn them into a minority. According to latest reports, India has fast-tracked the process for building its first military settlement in Budgam district of the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir where ex-servicemen who massacred Kashmiris would be settled. India has already constructed two military settlements in the Jammu region, but it failed to build such settlements in the Kashmir Valley because of the opposition of political parties and the Hurriyat leaders. The sinister motives behind the illegal move should also be exposed before the world community.
