The members of Tiger Force in Ehsas Center Fatehpur, Layyah, had a clash the police personnel involved in taking bribes from the poor people. After exchanging hot words with the Tigers, the policemen detained four Tiger Force volunteers and caged them in the police station. However, the police released them on the intervention of a local influential person. The Tiger Force volunteers then stage a protest against the police’s behaviour and also boycotted their duties at the Ehsas Centre. The volunteers said they were working free of charge but the police harassed them because they exposed their wrongdoings.
The Tiger Force volunteers alleged that the policemen were taking bribes from the people before allowing them to meet Ehsaas Centre staff. The protesters vowed not to perform any duty after this incident as no action has so far been taken against the corrupt policemen. However, district focal person of Ehsaas Centre Aurangzeb said the investigation is underway and facts will be revealed soon. Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the Tiger Force this year with an aim to spread awareness about social distancing and corona SOPs and exposing the wrongdoings in markets as part of an ambitious multi-pronged strategy to combat the coronavirus economic woes amid lockdown restrictions.
