DESPITE extreme restraint being exercised by Pakistan for the sake of regional security and stability, India continues with its aggressive and jingoistic posture against the country presenting formidable threats to peace. According to latest reports, there is credible evidence of India planning to mount an attack against Pakistan in a bid to divert attention from its internal challenges that the Modi Government finds it difficult to address to the satisfaction of its people and the world community.
Pakistan’s apprehensions are not misplaced as India resorted to so-called surgical strike inside Pakistani territory and its civilian and military leadership have repeatedly been hurling threats of aggression during the last many months. They have been levelling baseless allegations of terror-sponsoring against Pakistan and their desperation has reached the boiling point in the backdrop of undeniable evidence put together by Pakistan in the shape of a dossier that is currently under study by the United Nations and influential world capitals. India is reportedly preparing for an attack on the Line of Control (LoC) and on Pakistan-India Working Boundary and with this in view Pakistan armed forces have been put on high alert. There are fears that India can resort to a border action or a surgical strike as part of its false flag operation so that it could divert attention from several of its ongoing internal problems, including the mistreatment of minorities, farmers’ protests, its growing atrocities in India-Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IOJ&K) and the resultant criticism from international media and institutions. Indian Government is finding itself under intensive pressure particularly due to large-scale protests by Indian farmers that have attracted attention of the UN and the international community. The protests sparked off by controversial reforms deregulating India’s agriculture sector have escalated to the entire country. As the protesters are led by Sikh farmers from Indian Punjab who believe the so-called reforms will further undermine, disenfranchise and subjugate the Indian farmers, New Delhi is linking the development to Khalistan Movement and, therefore, may make Pakistan a scapegoat of its internal challenges and weaknesses. Though Pakistan has demonstrated capability of safeguarding its interests and responding to any misadventure in the same coin, any escalation in tension between the two nuclear armed countries is fraught with serious consequences and, therefore, the world should take due notice of Indian designs before it is too late.
