Writers, scholars draw world attention towards suffering humanity in IHK

Senior writers, poets and intellectuals at special event organized by Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Thursday drew attention of the international community, particularly the UN, US and EU towards the gross human rights violations and humanitarian crisis in the Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).
The event titled “Izhar-e-Yakjehti Rooh-e-Azadi Kashmir” was organized by the PAL to express solidarity with Kashmiri brethren.
Ghazala Saifi, Parliamentary Secretary for National History and Literary Heritage Division and Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir was the chief guest on the occas-
ion.Director General National Language Promotion Department (NLPD) and acclaimed poet Iftikhar Arif presided over the programe.
Eminent scholar Prof Dr Maqsood Jaffery gave a keynote address on the occasion.
Chairman PAL Syed Junaid Akhlaq and Director General PAL Dr. Rashid Hamid also attended the event.
Eminent poets and poetess recited heir poems in various Pakistani languages to highlight plight of the Kashmiri people. The proceedings were conducted by poet Mehboob Zafar.While speaking on the occasion Iftikhar Arif said all the scholars of Pakistan supported Kashmiris’ right of self-determination.
He strongly condemned India’s sectarian-based atrocities in the IOK. He appealed to United Nations and other human rights organizations to take notice and stop India from the human rights violation.
He called upon the world community to play its role in restoration of fundamental rights of the people of Kashmir. Arif said the Indian government’s announcement to revoke special status of Kashmir was a serious HR violation as it granted a level of autonomy to the region.
Eminent poets and poetess also recited their poems in various Pakistani languages. Eminent scholars including Dr Masood Jafri, Dr Ihsan Akbar, Wahid Bakhsh Buzdar, Arshad Mahmood Nashad, Asghar Abid, Anjum Khaleeq, Manzoor Waisrio , Iqbal Hussain Afkar, Javed Ahmed, Naseem Sehar, Ali Ravish, Dr. Rifat Abbas, Nusrat Yar, Manzar Naqvi, Sarwan Sindhi, Wafa Chisti, Imran Aami and others also attended the event.
Ghazala Saifi said the government would raise voice for people of Kashmir at all world forums. She said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will attended United Nations General Assembly as an Ambassador of people of Kashmir and raise voice for their rights. She said today is 46th days people of Kashmir were facing curfew and complete communication blocked.
She said that people were facing shortage of food and medicines. Despite all these atrocities, Kashmiris are in high spirits and will not hesitate to lay down any sacrifice for their freedom. Ghazala Saifi said Kashmir dispute was prominently highlighted.
