A suspect in custody died overnight in Lahore’s Ghaziabad police station on Wednesday.
Police said that the 30-year old suspect was in judicial remand and was allegedly involved in a robbery case. The police claimed his death was due to ‘cold’ and the body was discovered in the morning.
An investigation is underway and CCTV recordings are being checked. The body has also been sent for a postmortem for medico-legal formalities. Earlier in November, an individual kept in a police station near Lahore allegedly died due to police torture. However, the police ruled out the possibility of death in custody. Police claimed that two constables found the victim in an unconscious condition on a roadside.
