AFTER a long time, Pakistan is pursuing right course to expose India’s state-sponsored terrorism – thanks to the hard work of the country’s intelligence agencies, Foreign Office and Pakistan’s Permanent Representative at the UN Ambassador Munir Akram. Days after presenting the dossier, which was unveiled by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Director-General, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major-General Babar Iftikhar last month, to UN Secretary-General, Munir Akram has handed over the dossier on Indian sponsorship of terrorism and instability inside Pakistan to UN Under Secretary General for Counter-Terrorism Vladimir Ivanovich Voronkov.
As the documents contain irrefutable evidence of Indian involvement in acts of terrorism in Pakistan, it is hoped that it would form basis for ultimate action against New Delhi under the UN system. The very fact that Pakistan has presented the dossier to the chief of the world body, UN counter-terror chief and permanent members of the UN Security Council is reflective of the authenticity of the evidence provided by Pakistan. Leadership of Pakistan has long been agitating the issue but it is the first time that documents, banking transactions worth millions of dollars, audio clips and details of contacts between Indian intelligence operatives and diplomats with fugitive Research and Analysis Wing-backed militants operating out of Afghanistan have been put together and the information shared with relevant global institutions and influential capitals. There is undeniable evidence that Indian embassies and consulates operating along Pakistan’s borders have become a hub of terror sponsorship against Pakistan and New Delhi was using dirty tactics to undermine the gigantic initiative of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It is appreciable that both the UN Secretary-General and head of counter-terrorism have pledged to study the dossier but given Indian clout it would require consistent efforts and hard work on the part of Pakistani leadership especially our diplomats to ensure that the evidence is transformed into concrete action at relevant forums against India. New Delhi is also engaged in massive human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir and it would be worthwhile if Pakistan, with the cooperation of Kashmiri activists, gathers information and evidence that could form the basis for dossier on Indian atrocities against Kashmiris.
