CM directs vigorous campaign to rein in polio Reiterates govt’s resolve to eradicate polio as well as Coronavirus

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Sunday directed effective immunization against the crippling disease polio during the 5-day anti-polio campaign being started across the province from Monday (today).
The chief minister directed commissioners and deputy commissioners to personally monitor the anti-polio campaign and announced prize for the best performing district during the anti-polio campaign.
He said that 2000 vaccinators will be recruited to make polio vaccination more effective. He directed to pay special attention to anti-polio vaccination in Lahore and some affected districts of South Punjab. He termed the polio as national challenge for the nation. He warned that deputy commissioner concerned will be questioned if polio case and environment sample tested positive. He said that tempering in data during anti-polio campaign will not be tolerated. He maintained that 3,500 micro-plans have been evolved to make the anti-polio campaign fruitful, more than 250,000 officers and officials are participating in the anti-polio campaign. He said that in polio vaccine will be administered to more than 19 million children under the age of 5 years in the Punjab. Children will be vaccinated against polio.
Meanwhile, on the directives of the chief minister, a special meeting of Provincial Task Force for eradicating Polio was held at the CM’s Office. The meeting was briefed that the polio situation has been improved in 13 districts of Punjab but 10 districts of the province need more attention as the situation is not satisfactory over there. Provincial Ministers including: Dr. Yasmeen Rashid, Mian Mahmood Rashid, Dr. Murad Raas, CS, Provincial Head of WHO, Leader of UNICEF Lahore Team, Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare, Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner Lahore and concerned officials attended the meeting. Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners from across the province attended the meeting through video link.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has said that second wave of Covid-19 has become dangerous with having non-traditional symptoms therefore, preventive measures are utmost necessary. In a statement issued here, the chief minister said that Coronavirus was about to be eradicated from the country but highly irresponsible attitude of the opposition parties gave this virus new life. He said that these rejected elements first spread the virus of corruption and now they were becoming the source of multiplying the virus by holding the public meetings. He said opposition parties’ public meetings do not affect the government at all. He warned the PDM leadership that they should desist from playing with the lives of the poor masses. He also cautioned the political opponents that government will never allow anyone to challenge the writ of the state.
