The oath-taking ceremony of the fourth Short Course for 129 Rescue Drivers was held at Emergency Services Academy here on Saturday. The Director General Punjab Emergency Service Dr Rizwan Naseer was the chief guest of the ceremony. He took oath from 129 rescuers of different districts of Punjab, who completed a short course successfully. The senior officers from Rescue Headquarters, Emergency Services Academy, and a large number of rescuers attended the ceremony. These rescuers have been trained on Road Safety, Emergency Vehicle Driving, Motorbike driving and Community Action for Disaster Response during 6week training program.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rizwan Naseer took oath and congratulated rescuers on their successful completion of professional training and becoming part of the Rescue family as well. He said that Rescue 1122 Punjab has rescued over 8.8 million victims of emergencies since its inception in October 2004. The Rescue Service started as a pilot project from District Lahore to ensure human resource development of long-neglected emergency service in Pakistan.
The Government of Punjab through Rescue Service is providing technical assistance to other provinces for the establishment /replication of this lifesaving model of the Emergency Service. Now, the emergency services are being provided to the citizens of other provinces,” Furthermore, Emergency Services Academy has trained over 19000 Rescuers for Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Baluchistan and Aman Foundation from Karachi since 2004. The Emergency Services Academy has become a platform for providing professional training to rescuers of all provinces of Pakistan and even South Asian Countries can get benefit from this training facility. He also told them that the Team of Emergency Services Academy has become the first United Nations INSARAG certified team in South Asia for international disaster response.
DG Rescue Punjab emphasized that Rescue drivers must be careful and ensure wearing a mask to protect themselves from Corona, safe driving while responding to emergencies as a life savior is not allowed to risk another life when he is going to save someone’s life. You are trained and professional responder so you must ensure personal health hygiene and physical fitness to promote a healthy and safe culture at your workplace and in your communities.
