Ulema and Mashaikh belonging to different schools of thought on Thursday assured the Punjab government of full support for containing the spread of Coronavirus and said that ‘jihad’ against the pandemic from mosques and pulpits will continue.
Punjab Minister for Auqaf Sahibzada Syed Saeedul Hassan and the Chief Secretary met with Ulema from different sects at Darbar Hall in Civil Secretariat. The provincial minister said that the government needs cooperation and advice of religious scholars in implementation of SOPs for prevention of Coronavirus. He said that during the first wave of the epidemic, the guidance and cooperation of Ulema helped curb the spread of the virus for which the provincial government is thankful to them.
He said that Covaid-19 is spreading fast again due to the non-implementation of SOPs by people, adding that religious scholars should play their role in making the people aware of the gravity of the issue.
