Pakistan on Monday reported 34 deaths in the last 24 hours by the novel Coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 376,929. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 7,696.
A Medical Officer of Ayub Medical Complex, Dr Raja Asif in Abbottabad lost his life battling the novel coronavirus on Monday.According to hospital sources, Dr Raja Asif was being treated at Ayub Medical Complex and was on a ventilator, but he did not survive.
His father also died from Covid-19 last week, according to hospital sources.
It is worth mentioning that so far 22 doctors and 40 health workers have succumbed to Covid-19 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Meanwhile, the country’s nerve centre for Covid-19 response was informed that the positivity ratio reached 7.46pc during the last 24-hour period — highest since the start of the pandemic in Pakistan.
The National Command and Operation Centre was told during Monday’s meeting that due to the high positivity ratio, hospitalisation has doubled over the last two weeks. The meeting was chaired by Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar and was attended by Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood, with provincial representatives joining via video link.
