The Punjab government has imposed a smart lockdown in various localities of Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi due to a surge in cases in the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic.
According to the notification issued by the Punjab government, the smart lockdown will remain in force till November 19 in the affected areas. The notification further stated that all markets in these areas will remain open from 0:9am to 0:7pm. Smart lockdown has also been imposed in five affected areas of Multan.
Meanwhile, Dr Bashir died in Peshawar on Tuesday, after contracting coronavirus. The doctor had contracted coronavirus while discharging his duties and was under treatment. Paying rich tribute to the doctor, the Provincial Doctors Association said that the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 21 doctors and 40 health workers in the province so far.
The total active Covid-19 cases in Pakistan on Tuesday were recorded 20,045 as 1,637 more people tested positive for the deadly virus during the last 24 hours.
Twenty three corona patients, 21 of whom were under treatment in hospitals and two out of hospital died on Monday, according to the latest update issued by the National Command and Operation Centre.
