The Member National Assembly (MNA) and the information secretary Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Syeda Nafeesa Shah on Thursday has termed it quite ironic that the Election Commission of Gilgit Baltistan (GB) had issued notice to the chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his participation in the ongoing election campaign but had kept silent in connection with the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit of GB and his open participation in the election related public rallies. She said that while talking to the newsmen at the residence of the Sialkot district general secretary PPP, Khan Shehbaz Khan here.
Khawaja Awais Mushtaq advocate, Ch Azhar Hasan advocate, Azhar Diyal advocate, Haji M Arif, Riaz Hussain Shah, Master Shafi, Javed Butt and a number of local PPP activists were also present. Nafeesa Shah further added that many federal ministers had been continuously busy in the GB election campaign, but no notice had been taken by Election Commission so far.
She charged that the functionaries of the federal government had been trying to influence the current GB election by the use of money. Nafeesa Shah said that PPP had a long history of facing such negative tactics and it was ready to face them once again. She added that PPP would file petition in the Chief Court of GB in connection with the current excesses.
She also condemned the government of Punjab for its alleged mishandling of the issues of the farmers and the brutalities of the police against them.
