Deputy Commissioner Lahore Mudassir Riaz on Wednesday declared the rate of sugar at Rs83.50 per kg.
According to details, imported sugar will be sold in the city at Rs83.5 per kg a notification in this effect was issued. Imported sugar will not be sold to some wholesalers on commercial basis. It will be given to retailers and regular record of sold sugar should be kept. Mudassar Riaz said that imported sugar will be given only to retailers so that the general consumer can benefit from it. All price control magistrates have been directed to implement it. Imported sugar will be sold at Rs. 81.5 per kg in the Sahoolat Bazars.
He further said that its rate will be further reduced by Rs. 2 in the Sahoolat bazars from the general market. All price control magistrates have been directed to implement it immediately.
Sugar has been missing from the Model Town Utility Store since morning, causing problems for buyers. The administration says that the stock of sugar will reach by evening. Citizens say that sugar is not available at the stores. But due to non-availability of sugar, the shopping has remained incomplete. The administration does not only sell sugar when they go around again in the evening. If they come to buy sugar again, they will have to buy anew. He said that sugar has not been sent by the government yet, hopefully the official stock of sugar will reach by 4 pm after which the sale of sugar will start.
