Doctors strike of Ayub Teaching Hospital (ATH), Abbottabad entered into 12th consecutive day where thousands of patients have been badly suffering due to closure of out patients door (OPD) and other allied facilities on the 1400 bedded tertiary care hospital while the Board of Governors (BoG) seems to be Least bothered to take the matter resolved.
The indefinite strike was announced by the doctors and all the allied supporting departments of the complex after the removal of former Hospital director Dr. Khayal Afridi and Security Supervisor Mr. Faredoon Khan from their jobs on October 20th following the findings of inquiry against them. Both officers were accused of attacking on the Dean’s Office on which an FIR was registered by the administration. Almost all the facilities including OPDs, Operation Theatres, Laboratory & other testing facilities have been closed causing tremendous problem to the patients.
The pressure on emergency department has further increased and patients through emergency department were treated in wards and emergency operation theatre while all other allied services remained closed from last twelve days. The suffering patients were blaming doctors as well as members Board of Directors ( BoG) who have not taken any step to remove strike.
