Former Senator Razina Alam Khan was heaped with praises on Wednesday for penning down a unique book encompassing all phases of man’s life—from childhood to old age—and providing him with a platform to discover his potential.
Addressing the launching ceremony of Razina Alam Khan’s book “Suno Piaray Baitay” or “Listen, Dear Son” at the Aiwan-e-Quaid, Fatima Jinnah Park, eminent writers, intellectuals, writers, poets and academicians paid rich compliments to the author for continuing to work to guide the young generation.
Noted poet and human rights activist Kishwar Nahid was the chief guest at the book launching ceremony, while Chairman of the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Dr Yousuf Khushk, Rector International Islamic University (IIU) Dr Masoom Yasinzai, Chairman of the Nazriya Pakistan Council (NPC) Mian Mohammd Javaid and youth’s representative Haseeb Sheikh termed the book a ‘3D’ picture providing guidance on all the matters related with man’s life.
Kishwar Nahid said during her visit to Malaysia she learned from the Malaysian people how they heard from their grandmothers, stories of wisdom, courage, and faith and on the basis of those stories they launched epic resistance against the occupiers.
Kishwar regretted our children were no longer interested in books rather they were obsessed with mobile phones, video games and cartoons.
Similarly, she again regretted that the elderly members of our family are no longer interested in counseling the young members of the family and everyone has surrendered to the new world of technology.
Dr Yousuf Khushk PAL Chairman traced in Razina Alam Khan, glimpses of an educationist, a social reformer, a psychologist and a religious scholar. While reading her book, I have the impression that the book is a complete guidebook for the youth and unties all knots in a youngster’s mind related to who he is, what he should be and what benefit he can provide to his country with his work.
The author while thanking the speakers for their valuable comments said she was compelled to write Suno Piaray Baitay after writing Suno Piari Beti (Listen, Dear Daughter) in 2013 as a number of girls came to her and said she should also write some guidebook for the boys. She said parents should also listen to their children sympathetically and develop friendly relations with them.
The book is also a tribute to my late doctor son and I have dedicated it to his memory, said Senator Razina. She also thanked her husband Gen (R) Shamim Alam for his support and encouragement in her literary and social work.
Dr Masoom Yasinzai said the book contained quite informative, motivational and ideological content particularly for the youth to turn Pakistan into a progressive, peaceful and prosperous country.
Earlier, while welcoming the guests at the Aiwan-e-Quaid, Mian Mohammad Javaid Chairman of the NPC said he felt proud to be associated with the noble and learned family of Senator Razina Alam.
She, he said, is a woman of parts, a great patriot and her contributions for the country and the youth are immense. NPC’s Taleem Network also owes its success to Senator Alam’s work, he said. Mian Javaid also highlighted the passages in the book in which the author has taken guidance from the Quranic verses and Hadith to make the readers understand her view point.
He said the book should be included in the syllabus at the college and the university level so that the young students should learn what is the purpose of their life.
