The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected a petition of the federal government seeking the court’s permission to publish summons for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in two leading newspapers of the United Kingdom (UK).
As per details, Assistant Attorney General filed the plea in IHC asking the court to allow posting of Nawaz Sharif’s summons in British newspapers.
Earlier, IHC gave former Prime Minister and PML-N supremo Mian Nawaz Sharif the final chance to appear before the court on November 24. The order issued by the division bench comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani states that Nawaz Sharif should be informed to appear before the court through advertisements in both Urdu and English newspapers. According to the order, the advertisement should also be sent to the UK through the High Commission. Moreover, the advertisement should also be printed in London editions of Urdu and English newspapers, the cost of which will be borne by the federal government. The decision said that the court has no option but to initiate proceedings to declare Nawaz Sharif a fugitive.

High Court (IHC) were published on Monday.
The PML-N supremo was declared a proclaimed offender earlier in September and had refused multiple times to receive the arrest warrants issued in his name. The arrest warrants were sent twice by-hand and once via Britain’s Royal Mail.
The text of the proclamation stated that Nawaz was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and fine which was suspended on September 19, 2018, and he was released on bail.
The text further stated that Nawaz was required to appear before the court during the hearing and arrest warrants were issued to ensure Nawaz’s attendance which could not be complied with.
The proclamation added that Nawaz should appear before the court on November 24.
