Another 10 people died from the Coronavirus during the past 24 hours in Pakistan, raising the death toll in the country to 6,580. This is per the latest figures released by National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Monday morning.
It means Pakistan recorded coronavirus-related deaths in double figures on the second consecutive day following the 12 patients dying of the virus reported previously. However, there was a marked decrease in new cases, as the 385 people tested positive Sunday against the 666 recorded a day earlier. Hence, the overall infections reported officially in the country has reached 319,317.
The region-wise distribution of the coronavirus cases reported in Pakistan is given as: Sindh 140,294, Punjab 100,764, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 38,348, Islamabad 17,331, Balochistan 15,525, Gilgit-Baltistan 3,937 and Azad Kashmir 3,118. During the past 24 hours, 727 coronavirus patients fully recovered from the infection. Thus the total number of people testing negative due to treatment in health facilities or being kept in isolation after being infected has now increased to 304,185.
These stats means that the number of closed cases [deaths + number of those recovering from infection] currently stands at 310,765. However, there are 8,552 active cases in Pakistan, the majority of which have been isolated at their homes and other places. However, 491 of those who have been hospitalised are in intensive care units of different hospitals due to their critical condition.
