The senior leader and the Punjab president of Pakistan People’s Party Ch Qamar Zaman Kaira on Monday has said that the public meeting of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) in Gujranwala on 16th October would be the largest in the history of the city as PPP, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamiat Ulama e Islam-Fazal ur Rahman (JUI-F) and other parties had been hard in order to make it an historically successful.
He said this while addressing the offices bearers of different local organizations of the PPP at the residence of party’s district Sialkot general secretary Khan Shahbaz Khan here. Ex-MPA Malik Tahir Akhtar, the Punjab vice president Kh Awais advocate, district president Azhar Hasan advocate, city president Azhar Dayal advocate, the city general secretary Malik Ali and a number of local leaders and workers were also present. Qamar Zaman Kaira further said that the current Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI) led government had been miserably failed in fulfilling any of promises it had made to the masses of the country. He added that the people of Pakistan knew very well that the present government during the last two and a half year had made their lives harder without giving them relief of any kind.
He charged that quite contrary to the ongoing propaganda, the government could not enhance the tax base, but it had adopted the negative practice of getting huge internal and external loans to run the business.
He viewed that the anti-business unfriendly economic policies of the current government had badly affected the general economic condition of majority of the people most of whom now could not pay taxes. He said that the Prime Minister Imran used to repeatedly blame and criticize the past governments of PPP and PML-N for the ‘circular debt’ which now during his own tenure had reached the mind-blowing figure of over Rs 2400 billion.
Qamar Zaman Kaira said that taking U-turns seemed a favorite tactic of Imran Khan and he used to defend it but the fact was that U-turns actually meant that he was inert and stagnant who had not excelled or progressed forward. He said that Imran Khan rightly used to say that he would launch a tsunami in the country as currently Pakistan was in the tight grip the worst tsunami of unprecedented unemployment, price hike, inflation and political and economic stability. He blamed that before forming government Imran Khan and his cronies had many times promised the nation that they would bring back US$ 200 billion back in the country, which according to them had been looted by the so-called corrupt politicians of PPP, PML-N and JUI-F, but quite ironically, they had not brought back even a single dollar.
He said that the fake claims about the alleged corruption of the rival politicians and hollow promises to improve the condition of the poor had exposed the leadership of PTI before the people of Pakistan and at the same time the judiciary, including the Supreme Court of Pakistan, had expressed serious doubts and showed grave concerns about the current mishandling of the certain politicians by the National Accountability Bureau in the name of checking and controlling corruption.
