Pak Sarzameen Party Chairman Mustafa Kamal on Monday said that Pakistan’s economic lifeline Karachi is being strangled jointly by incompetent federal and prejudiced provincial governments. “Before becoming the Prime Minister, Imran Khan used to say that the obvious reason for the inflation in any country is none other than the incumbent ruler being corrupt. It seems that the people of Karachi are being punished for electing the Prime Minister from Karachi.” The Pak Sarzameen Party Chairman Mustafa Kamal expressed these views while addressing public during flag hoisting ceremony at North Karachi. Due to the incompetence and failure of the government, inflation is skyrocketing. By increasing power and gas tariff time and again, on one hand conspiracy is being hatched to shut down industries and cease commercial activities in the city, while on the other hand, the life of the common man has become miserable due to unprecedented inflation coupled with grinding poverty, as 96% of the people have been deprived of even two meals a day. The powers and resources guaranteed under the 18th constitutional amendment are stuck with the provincial rulers instead of being devolved to the grass root level. Those who run the affairs of the country have to understand the very fact that the destruction of Karachi is the destruction of Pakistan. There is an urgent need for a new political and social contract in this country. Pakistan’s development is not possible unless the NFC-style PFC is made mandatory. In such a situation, reforms are urgently needed, without which Pakistan will not move in the right direction. The Pak Sarzameen Party is the only political party offering a solution to Karachi’s problems “Our greatest achievement is that we have reconnected hearts of people from different ethnicity, school of thoughts and backgrounds and closed the door to growing ethnic hatreds in the face of prolonged war for political interests.”
