National Speech & language pathology day was celebrated at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad to highlight the efforts & Importance of Speech and Language therapist. Speech-language pathology is a field of expertise practiced by a clinician known as a speech-language pathologist SLP or a speech and language therapist.
Chief guest Dr. Nausheen Hamid, Parliamentary secretary for national health services while addressing the audience stressed the importance of treating swallowing and speech issues both in pediatrics and Geriatrics. She also highlighted the need to promote research linkages between institutions and standardized health education to improve standard of living.
A panel discussion was carried out by experts from fields regarding the theme of this year is community rehabilitation through better communication. A lecture on the role of the Speech pathologist in Covid-19 was delivered by Faiza Badar speech pathologist SIH.
