Two colleges, a school sealed for one week after emergence of Covid-19 cases

On the recommendations of the District Health Office (DHC), the district administration has sealed two colleges (one for boys and the other for girls) and a school for one week. These educational institutions will now open on Oct 12, 2020.
According to details, the Islamabad College for Boys (ICB) in G-6/3 and Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) in F-7/4 were sealed on Saturday for one-week following the emergence of Coronavirus Cases.
Army Public School DHA II has also been closed till Oct 10 after two students, one from grade-7 and another from grade-10 tested positive, said the sources in the district health office.
District Health Office (DHO) Islamabad issued the sealing notification after more Coronavirus Cases (two students and one aya) were reported from IMCG F-7/4 and three staff members tested positive in the ICB G-6/3.
DHO Dr Zaeem Zia said the institution buildings would be disinfected and contact tracing will be carried out. It said measures are being taken to ensure safety of students and school staff.
Moreover, the notification said an institute getting more than two positive cases will be sealed on an immediate basis.
A notification issued by the ICB administration says though the college will remain closed till Oct 10, 2020 yet all the staff will remain standby and no one is allowed to leave the station.
Both the above-mentioned institutions will resume work on October 12 subject to clearance from the DHO.
The DHO urged all Heads of Institutions to keep adopting measures to strictly follow the prescribed SOPs without any compromise.
It is once again reiterated that all Heads of Institutions should keep adopting measures to strictly follow the prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) without any compromise. Above referred guidelines are to be kept in consideration.
All respective Area Education Officers, Director Colleges and Director Academics are always available to respond to queries or information in this regard.
According to the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat, as of now 26 Shops, 5 Hotels, 6 Schools have been sealed in Islamabad for violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) devised to curb the outbreak of COVID-19.
A day earlier, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Coronavirus said that 39 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported from Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) during the last 24 hours.
