Garbage piled up again in Lahore, the city began to rot as an estimated 10,000 tons of garbage is said to have been piled on on the streets. According to details, piles of garbage were heaped up around Shadman, Abbott Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Shalimar Scheme, Slamatpura and Mall Road. Besides, dirt was also accumulated in China Scheme, Shalimar Bagh, Garhi Shahu and Anarkali areas.
Al-Buraq’s drivers, supervisors and sanitation workers are on strike due to non-payment of salaries, which has led to piles of rubbish in the city.
CEO LWMC Imran Sultan, while acknowledging the accumulation of garbage in the city, said that the workers should be paid their salaries and the strike would be called off soon. In five days, the city will be reduced to zero waste.
