Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani inaugurated a tree plantation campaign for planting parks and green belts in Karachi. He planted neem sapling in Burns Garden. Addressing the ceremony, Shallwani said Neem, Jaman, Almond, Pomegranate, China Pomegranate, Jungle Jalebi, China Almond trees will be planted in KMC parks in Karachi. The Administrator said that one lakh trees will be planted initially in collaboration with KMC, DMCs and civil society. Shalawani announced to open Burns Garden for citizens from Saturday. A children’s park, an open gym will be built in Burns Garden and a curtain park for women will be renovated, the Administrator said, adding a road should also be constructed from I I Chundragar Road for entry of citizens in Burns Garden. He said all encroachments on Burns Garden should be removed immediately. Built in 1927, the park is of historical significance. The trees planted in all the parks should be numbered and entered in the computer. Plaques with their names should be installed on the trees planted in KMC parks. The Administrator said that Civil society is with KMC to make Karachi clean and green.
