A captain of the Pakistan army was martyred during an exchange of fire with terrorists in South Waziristan district on Monday.
According to the military’s media wing, the security troops were patrolling in the Shakai Valley of the tribal district after they had received intelligence reports about the presence of terrorists there.
The Army Captain Abdullah led the troops to patrolling when the terrorist resorted to firing on the patrolling party. The shootout between the forces and the insurgents ensued. The exchange of fire led to the martyrdom of the officer. There are no reports about the losses on part of the terrorists. The security forces cordoned doned off the area and are reported to have kicked off clearance operations. Captain Abdullah Zafar, 25 was a resident of Lachi area of Kohat.
“On intelligence of terrorist’s presence in Shakai, South Waziristan, Security Forces were conducting night patrolling to check terrorists move in the area. During one such late night patrol yesterday in Shakai, South Waziristan, terrorists fired on patrolling party. During exchange of fire, Captain Abdullah Zafar, age 25 years, resident of Lachi, Kohat while leading his troops embraced Shahadat. Area cordoned off for clearance operation”. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) communiqué issued on Monday said.
