Reacting to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s statement about US election, President Donald Trump slammed the actress on Wednesday. He said he was “not a fan” and wished her husband Prince Harry an ironic “good luck.”
Meghan had urged Americans to vote during an ABC primetime special Tuesday, telling viewers: “Every four years, we´re told, ´This is the most important election of our lifetime.´ But this one is.”
Senior US journalists took to Twitter to comment on President Trump’s reaction to Markle’s remarks.
CNN’s Joe Lockhart wrote, “add another name to the list of women, strong women, black women that Donald Trump is not a fan of, Meghan Markle.”
Fox News reporter Katie Pavlich simply quoted the president in her tweet which read: “POTUS asked about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry telling Americans they should vote for Joe Biden. I’m not a fan of hers and I wish Harry a lot of luck”.
An other journalist Lisa Boothe said, “Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are insufferable”.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump has slammed Meghan Markle over her support for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
“I’m not a fan of hers,” Trump told reporters at a White House press briefing. “And I would say this — and she probably has heard that — but I wish a lot of luck to Harry, because he’s gonna need it.”
Markle, 39, is a Los Angeles-born former actor who married Queen Elizabeth II’s grandson in 2018 before being blamed for the January #MegExit of the couple, in which they abandoned their royal duties to move first to Canada, and then to the US.
The couple effectively endorsed Joe Biden in a recent video clip filmed for Time magazine. A heavily accented Harry, 36, said, “It’s time to not only reflect, but act.”
“This election I’m not going to be able to vote here in the US, but many of you may not know that I haven’t been able to vote in the UK my entire life. As we approach this November, it’s vital that we reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity,” Harry said.—AP
