WEF awards title ‘Champion for nature’ to Pakistan: Faisal

Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Senator Faisal Javed Khan on Saturday said that world acknowledges Prime Minister Imran Khan’s efforts for environmental protection as World Economic Forum (WEF) awards the title of ‘Champion for Nature’ to Pakistan.
In a brief statement on social media networking site, he said that Federal Minister for Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam will receive the award for Pakistan. He said that it is a recognition of the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision for Clean and Green Pakistan.
World Economic Forum (WEF) has acknowledged Prime Minister Imran Khan’s “Green Stimulus” package which was approved on Wednesday as part of the government’s efforts to extend green cover in the county and create job opportunities for the youth, especially in the wake of the Covid-19 crisis.
The package is part of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government’s 10 Billion Tree Tsunami project and aimed at promoting plantation, setting up nurseries and natural forests, as well as honey, fruit and olive plantation in the country.
