Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Ch Shujaat Hussain and Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Pervaiz Elahi on Thursday stressed the need for unity both inside and outside the parliament to foil nefarious designs of the enemy.
“Every politician and parliamentarian will have to prefer national interest to all other interests and work only for the country to come to the expectations of the public and ensure development of the country in the real sense. Pakistan is out motherland and we should not commit any such act that undermine national interest, integrity or sovereignty at any level”, Ch Shujaat Hussain and Ch Pervaiz Elahi stated while talking to Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani. The Senate chairman called on them PML-Q President Ch Shujaat Hussain, Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Pervaiz Elahi and MNA Moonis Elahi at their residence here on Thursday. They exchanged views about national political situation and matters of bilateral interest during the meeting.
They emphasized that although every politician has to work under the umbrella of a political party but he/she must prefer national interest in all circumstances, adding that every leader and lawmaker would have to rise above every sort of bias and try to serve the nation. Both Ch Shujaat and Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that the government has been working in the right direction and will take the country to development and prosperity.
On the occasion, Provincial Minister Mohammad Rizwan, Shafay Hussain, Senator Mirza Mohammad Khan Afridi and Abdul Qadir were also present.
On the occasion, the Senate chairman appreciated the role of Ch Shujaat Hussain and Ch Pervaiz Elahi in the national politics and as an ally of the government. Regarding performance of the Punjab Assembly, he congratulated Ch Pervaiz Elahi on completion of maximum legislation and showing better performance all four provincial assemblies during the past two years.
Expressing gratitude to the Senate chairman, Ch Pervaiz Elahi said that Sanjrani has been running the process of legislation in the Senate in very appreciable manner and taking all parties along is the best example of democracy.
