Despite lapse of 16 days, the police have appeared clueless about the whereabouts of Abid Malhi, the main accused of Gujjarpura Motorway gangrape case.
The police investigation in the rape case has gone slow down. Police launched a search operation at the shrines and around the city. According to sources, police believe that Abid Malhi may have adopted the guise as a beggar.
No further arrests could be made by the police to lead to the accused. Police did not find Abid Malhi even after 16 days but the round-up of the accused’s relatives is continued. Police are also searching for the accused in other districts.
On the instructions of IG Punjab Inam Ghani, Rapid Force personnel arrested Zulfiqar, a relative of Abid Malhi from Fort Abbas. According to sources, Zulfiqar is a push cart vendor in Kachhiwala town. Police are questioning Zulfiqar.
Police also released various sketches of the accused and three raids were carried out to nab Abid Malhi but the police failed.
According to police sources, the accused is very clever and is changing his place again and again.
