Plan to celebrates World Tourism Day finalized

A meeting chaired by Adviser to Chief Minister, Asif Mehmood has given final touches to the programmes prepared for World Tourism Day (WTD).
Main event of WTD would be held in historic Shalamar Garden on September 27 and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar will be the chief guest at the function. Director General PHA Lahore Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, DG Archaeology Ilyas Gill, MD TDCP Tanvir Jabbar and other officials from district administration were also present at the meeting. “The theme of WTD this year is ‘tourism and rural development’ and all programmes should reflect this theme”, directed the adviser.
The meeting was informed that encroachments at the front of Shalamar Garden have been removed however few hawkers continue their work on late hours. Asif Mehmood directed that no such activity should be allowed at declared world heritage site.
“PHA, Archaeology department and district administration should work in collaborated way for the preservation and beautification of archaeological sites” he said.
He expressed his dissatisfaction over briefing by TDCP and directed that comprehensive presentation be arranged for final approval. It was decided in the meeting that full dress rehearsal would be held on 26 September in Shalamar Garden and artists wearing mughal court dresses will present stage show.
