The first environmental reporting workshop was held here at the press club on the occasion of World Ozone Day The event was addressed by Director General of National Institute of Oceanography Nuzhat Khan, Environmentalist ShahidLatfi, Senior Reporter Amar Guerrero, Mustafa Buledi, President Press Club Imtiaz Khan Faran, Secretary ArmanSabir and Joint Secretary SaqibSaghir while Treasurer Raja Kamran officiated. The workshop was organized in collaboration with Lucky Cement and Environment Consultants and Services. ShahidLatfi gave an overview of the environmental laws in Pakistan as well as the impact of the environment on human life in the country. Latifi said that the country has the best environmental laws but they are not being implemented. Nuzhat Khan said that plastics have revolutionized the field of medicine and saved millions of lives but the inclusion of plastics in all walks of life has increased the problems. Millions of tons of plastic islands are being formed in the oceans which the world is anxious to eradicate it. ArmanSabir said that environmental reporting is related to human life and it should be given equal importance with crime and political reporting. ۔ A question and answer session was also held in the workshop. After which shields were distributed to the speakers and certificates were distributed among the participants.
