The Privatization Commission auctioned 13 government properties in Lahore for Rs179.354 million. The open auction was attended by Federal Minister for Privatization Muhammad Mian Soomro, DG Privatization Commission Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi and other officials.
The properties auctioned included three shops located on MM Alam Road, which were sold out for Rs44.58 million, nine apartments located on Link Ferozepur Road for Rs42.7 million, Rs74,500 while Nicholson Road Wapda Building was auctioned for Rs92 million. The total reserve price of these government properties was fixed at Rs175.04 million by the Privatization Commission. Addressing the function and talking to media, Federal Minister for Privatization Muhammad Mian Soomro said that PIA is not being privatized and government institutions will be privatized under set rules and regulations in a transparent manner. He said that economy is improving after Corona pandemic.
Mohammad Mian Soomro said that there is no uncertainty and the process has been going on according to the privatization plan. They are holding auctions while maintaining transparency under the ordinance, Steel Mill, Mari Gas Field, Convention Center Islamabad, Services Hotel, S. ME Bank, PPL, Guddu Power Plant and power companies will be privatized, he added.
Meanwhile, a meeting chaired by Secretary Muhammad Mian Soomro was held to consider the issues faced in the project selected for privatization.
Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat, Provincial Minister for Irrigation Mohsin Leghari, Punjab Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik, Senior Member Board of Revenue Babar Hayat Tarar, Secretary Irrigation Saif Anjum, Secretary Local Government Ahmed Javed Qazi, Secretary Housing Nadeem Mehboob, DG LDA Ahmed Aziz Tarar and Deputy Commissioner Lahore Danish Afzal attended.
