All Karachi Realtors Association Chairman Raheel Haroon has said that petition mafia has taken builders of Bahria Town hostage.
While addressing a press conference at the press club here on Friday, he said that the association members are being targeted by blackmailer mafia, whose chief is a chief Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi, as he and his accomplices have been harassing the builders with frivilous petitions in the court of law, and thus inflicting billions of rupees losses to builders and creating problems for masses as the projects are delayed due to his balck-mailing practices.
“The blackmailer group have occupied acres of land by using these agonistic tactics. They have stopped various project by filing a petition on ne pretext or other. It is a very organised mafia. When someone starts a project, this person contacts the owner and ask if he has taken the permission,” the Realtors Association chief narrated the ordeal and asked in what capacity is he (Naqvi) doing all this?
Haroon feared that the realtors’ community was under a notion that the said mafia was operating with backing from very influential persons as apart from complaints to authorities no action has been taken so far against them. “This person has the support of the political people.”
The Chairman said that the Chief Justice of Pakistan had already termed him (NaqvI) a habitual petitioner and requested the judiciary and law enforcement agencies for providing justice to the builders.
“Importantly, our industry is the backbone of the national economy. If we work, the wheel of allied industry will run.”
