In order to conserve energy and find for its alternate sources, it has been decided to shift Aiwan-e-Sadr (The President House) Islamabad on solar energy.
A senior official of the Aiwan-e-Sadr while talking to Pakistan Observer here on Thursday confirmed that President Arif Alvi after taking over as the 13th president of the country exactly two years ago, Sept 9, 2018 had directed conversion of the Aiwan-e-Sadr electricity system on solar source of energy and in pursuance of his directions, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Aiwan-e-Sadr and a private electricity generation company.
“The MoU was signed in Karachi for converting the Aiwan-e-Sadr energy system on solar energy and President Arif Alvi also attended the ceremony,” the official further said.
CEO of the power company Shamim Ahmed and Project Director Aiwan-e-Sadr Shahid Shaukat signed the MoU. According to President Alvi, a huge amount of money will be saved that was earlier expensed in electricity bills of the President House.
Seeking alternate sources of energy is the need of the time and shifting Aiwan-e-Sadr’s electricity to solar energy is part of the government’s policy of energy conservation.
