RTI bounds to share required information with masses

Chief Commissioner Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission (KPIC) Sajid Khan Jadon Friday said the Right to Information (RTI) law bounds public entities to share all sorts of information with masses on their demand.
Addressing one-day training workshop on RTI for police officers and officials of Abbottabad, Mansehra and Haripur, he said that it was legal and moral duty of all public bodies to share their record on demand.
He said that under RTI law a government department couldn’t hide any information from public, adding that it would improve the good governance as well as make the government entities accountable to masses.
On the occasion,he briefed the participants of the workshop about the process of sharing information with masses and the way of request for any required information.
He said that government bodies are bound to provide information under RTI law in the specific time period. Speaking on the occasion DIG Hazara Qazi Jamil ur Rehman said that under RTI law the public bodies can’t conceal any information and assured the cooperation of police department in this regard. Commissioner KPIC Riaz Khan, Regional Police Officer Jamil ur Rehman and other high police officers attended the workshop.
