Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan Thursday said Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shahbaz Sharif will be held answerable if former prime minister Nawaz Sharif does not return after undergoing medical treatment.
Ali Muhammad Khan talked to media along with Parliamentary Secretary for Railways Farrukh Habib here said Shahbaz Sharif had given personal guarantee of Nawaz Sharif’s return and it is the responsibility of the person to either bring back the one whose personal guarantee has been given or to present himself.
“Nawaz Sharif should respect the court order and surrender. Other political parties should also submit details of their accounts before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) just like Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI). Everybody is equal before the law. The status quo parties do not want change in the country,” Ali Muhammad Khan said.
Farrukh Habib said everything should be clarified in the party funding case as PML-N and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) used party accounts for telegraphic transfer (TTs) and money laundering. The government wants inspection of the accounts of all parties, he told.
Farrukh Habib said transparent accounts are also the demand of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). What happened in the past cannot be neglected, he said while adding that the opposition is blackmailing the government over the FATF laws and want Pakistan to get blacklisted.
He stressed that PPP and PML-N want to hide their corruption and evade accountability but PTI will continue to expose their corruption and irregularities.
