NAB Lahore has arrested Grade 19 officer Chief Engineer TEPA Mazhar Hussain and co-accused Anjum Zeeshan.
Both were facing charges of making assets and bank accounts worth more than Rs 700 million.
Mazhar Hussain was also posted as Chief Engineer in LDA who transferred Rs200 million to his 20,000 monthly employee nephew.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore had launched an inquiry into the alleged financial embezzlement against accused Mazhar Hussain last year.
During the inquiry, the accused received evidence of obtaining financial benefits in various government projects with the help of other co-accused. Accused added crores of rupees to his and his family’s assets in the name of amnesty scheme.
Investigative team found evidence of transfer of 23 crore families to bank accounts by the accused, which the accused has so far failed to prove.
It has been revealed that there are 3 plots of land in LDA Avenue in the name of the accused. It was also revealed that there were 4 valuable flats in the name of accused Mazhar Hussain in Mozang Lahore and he made crores of rupees by selling those flats.
Presence of 16 Kanal 11 Marla land was also found in Mouza Amirpura. Rs80 million later transferred to accused’s personal account, whose sources could not be disclosed.
NAB Lahore will present the accused before the Lahore Accountability Court today for physical remand. Among other assets, 2 plots of 10 marlas were also found in LDA Avenue Society.
It has been revealed that there are 4 valuable flats in the name of accused Mazhar Hussain in Mozang area of Lahore.
