It is incumbent upon higher education institutions to devise new plans and strategies aimed at facilitating and securing the future and academic career of the country’s youth with the COVID-19 pandemic threat still lurking in the dark, University of Gujrat (UoG) Vice chancellor has said.
Prof. Dr Shabbar Atiq made these remarks as he chaired a meeting of senior faculty members of the varsity here at Hafiz Hayat Campus on Tuesday. The meeting discussed ways and measures to better facilitate the students during the current and forthcoming semesters without risking their health and wellbeing in the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic scenario.
The participants unanimously agreed to discourage social interaction during the process of learning and teaching, in addition to a strict adherence to the SOPs issued by the govt and health authorities to check the spread of the outbreak. They called for further strengthening of the IT services so that the process of teaching and learning could continue in a safe environment.
“The COVID-19 attack hit the world economies hard and threatened to put a halt to the progress made so far, sparing no area of human activity. The danger still lurks in the shadows and the universities should take it upon themselves to facilitate our youth in their academic journey.
We must come up with new plans and strategies that should be capable enough to cater to the students’ intellectual needs without any threat to their health and wellbeing,” Dr Shabbar Atiq said.
